Estate Administration: What happens after a loved one dies? What you can and should do.

  • Immediately after passing:  Burial or cremation.  Who pays for it if not pre-planned?

  • What happens to the Durable Power of Attorney (POA) and Health Care Proxy (HCP)?

  • Decedent’s last - Last Will and Testament (LWT) needs to be offered for probate. Who has standing to do this?

  • What to do if there is no LWT.  Who inherits if there is no LWT?

  • Who has the power to act, when, and how?

  • Who needs to be notified?
