If you do not have a Will, only blood relatives will inherit from your estate and New York State will determine who inherits and how much. The only person you cannot disinherit is a legally married spouse. If you do not want certain blood relatives to inherit from you, the only way to put this plan into place is to write and sign a Will with this provision.
